Abner

Abner was once head of the Nazarites at Engedi (Ein Gedi). He became a follower of John the Baptist, becoming the chief of John’s apostles. Later, he became a devout believer in Jesus and headed a group of seventy teachers that the Master commissioned to preach the gospel. Later still, he made his religious headquarters at Philadelphia (Amman, Jordan). After the death of Jesus, he fell out with Peter and Paul and was ostracized by the church in Rome.
