Elizabeth

Elizabeth was the mother of John the Baptist and a distant cousin of Mary, Jesus’ mother. Gabriel appeared to her, telling her she would bear a son, the forerunner of a divine teacher. Elizabeth, like her husband, Zacharias, was also of the priesthood. She was well educated for the time and later kept John posted about Palestinian and world affairs.
