Immanence refers to the view that God is directly involved in people’s lives and the workings of the universe; that the divine is present in the material world. Contrast this with transcendence, the view that the divine is outside the material world; that God is above and beyond the created universe, not limited by time, space, or anything else. The Urantia Book states that both notions are correct and emphasizes that these are two essential concepts of Deity, unified by faith.
