Antioch was the third-largest city in the Roman Empire and the capital of Syria. Jesus spent over two months here during his solitary wanderings, working as a tentmaker for 3 weeks (Paper 134). In Antioch, Paul’s disciples were first called “Christians,” and after the destruction of Jerusalem (AD 70), it became the headquarters of Pauline Christianity.
