David was a son of Zebedee the boat builder. His brothers, James and John, were apostles, but David showed little interest in Jesus until the “The Draught of Fishes” episode. Henceforth, he became a follower. He provided essential support for Jesus and the apostles, setting up camps and organizing a vital messenger service. He married Ruth, Jesus’ youngest sister.
