simian

By conventional definition, simians include all monkeys and apes, including humans. But The Urantia Book separates humans (even as Hominidae) from the simian group after the appearance of the “Primates” (as they define this group). The book also separates pre-existing “lemurs, gibbons, apes, and other monkeylike creatures” from the modern simians that evolved from the “mid-mammals” (Paper 62).
