Sepphoris

Sepphoris was an important trade center in Jesus’ time. It was the capital of Galilee (until Tiberias was built) and one of the residences of Herod Antipas. Jesus’ father died there while working on one of Herod’s buildings. As a young man, Jesus worked and lived in the city as he weaned himself from family responsibilities.
