Simon of Bethany was the father of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus, who all became good friends of the young Jesus. Jesus visited Simon’s home many times on his early ventures to Jerusalem. Simon died before Jesus reached his 18th year but later, under Lazarus, this home became Jesus’ headquarters for his work in the southern regions.
